Internet Marketing Lies

You’ve heard people say that Internet business is a complete waste of time, you’re not going to make any money and you’ll get a whole host of many other negative comments from those who don’t really understand Internet business.

The thing is though, it does actually work!

Why is it that some people make a hefty fortune and others don’t even make a red cent?

Simple… the people who make thousands, or even millions of dollars knew the Internet Marketing lies well in advance and simply wouldn’t believe them!

Internet Marketing Lies You Should Know

1. Money From The Internet Is *Easy* Money

Easy Money

A huge fallacy held by many online marketing newcomers is that you can make money overnight and by not doing anything at all if you’ll just learn that magic trick, find that magic tool, or get on the ‘inside’ within the inner circle. If this is what you have in your mind right now, this myth is what keeps you trapped in buying product after product and trying scheme after scheme with little or no real success. You’ve probably heard the stories of how the gurus like Frank Kern, John Reese and Ryan Deiss make 5 to 6 and even 7 figure incomes in as little as a day.

These stories may be true but did you also know that most of these gurus have failed so miserably many times before they really hit that windfall? They’ve simply learned from their mistakes and drove themselves forward extracting the lessons from their mistakes. It may seem as if these gurus are overnight successes with wild incomes being reported during a 24 hour period or a week selling information or products online.

Some *interesting* facts about overnight success – it normally takes years to become the ‘overnight success’ that people from the outside see. In other words, they prepare, they create joint venture partnerships, build anticipation for a product launch and BOOM… it explodes!

2. You Don’t Need A List

Subscriber ListGive me a break! This is frankly absurd! This is like saying, “I don’t want to be in business.” You’ve probably heard expressions like “The money is in the list” from many gurus out there. But you should also have this word in your mind, “The money is in the relationship and the value you provide to your list.”  The idea of networking with people is unattractive to those who hate to sell.

Remember that you’re not ‘selling’ anything. You’re just showing people their life and how it can be enhanced by what you ‘offer’.

3. Running An Online Business Is Too Expensive

Did you know that you can start your internet business with virtually no cost? You can earn your income by joining an affiliate network such as Clickbank or Commission Junction, usually as an ‘affiliate marketer’ where your job is to “focus on matching a high converting offer with highly qualified traffic from a hungry buyer’s market”. All of the customer follow up, product delivery and so on is done by the product vendor.

On the other hand, there are some mandatory investments such as an email autoresponder such as Aweber, a domain name and web hosting. This is much cheaper than any traditional business.

There are many more investments that you should definitely consider such as keyword research software such as Market Samurai, premium WordPress plugins and themes, quality information products, etc. Just be careful to buy these from a trusted source.

Running an online business doesn’t have to be expensive and lavish like a Ferrari F458, but you do need to treat it as a business and invest in your success.

4. You Must Have Programming, HTML And Graphic Design Skills To Start An Online Business

HTMLThis limiting belief stops so many people from even starting. You don’t need to know these sort of skills at all. One of the biggest discoveries you can have is that most of the biggest gurus today don’t have the first clue as to how to build a web page.

These gurus earned more money because they knew how to provide value to the most people possible. These are the skills of a marketer – learning how to drive traffic to an offer and converting that traffic into overjoyed buyers.

They either outsource or establish joint venture partnerships with other individuals who can compensate for their lack of knowledge in these areas.

Most successful people are true successes because they focus their time and efforts on what brings them success. If you want to create web pages without learning programming and web design, just find someone that can help you. There are many professional web designers you can outsource this work to at a very reasonable rate. Besides, there are many software applications such as WordPress or Joomla which make the job of creating web pages simple.

5. You Don’t Need To Learn How To Sell Online

Ads that read “no selling required” attracts people who hate selling. Think for a moment, is there any sense at all that you can make money without doing anything? Usually these programs are not viable and with many being run by shady operators. In this business, you don’t need to ‘sell’ to other people. Instead, you can simply inform your prospects and show them what their lives would be like if they had what you’re ‘offering’ and you will make sales without ‘selling’ anything at all!

6. The Money is in The List

This is certainly not true. If this was true, then spammers would be the richest Internet Marketers on the circuit since they’re likely to have the biggest lists. Although they have a large potential reach, their actual reach is very small since spam filters weed out their emails, people do not open them and click the links.

7. Traffic = Money

This one is spouted at many Internet Marketing seminars and is totally untrue. It is true that you need traffic to make money. After all, if no-one is viewing your offers, you cannot possibly be converting them. However, just because you have traffic at your site does not mean that you will make sales. The truth is:

Converted Traffic = Money

Conversion is a consequence of trust, liking, authority and credibility, so these are the things that you need to work towards developing to make sales from the traffic you get.

Traffic Equals Money

All of the above are just some of the big Internet marketing lies. Actually there are many more Internet Marketing lies you should steer clear of. You’ve got to be smart to really achieve all the success you desire!

This is a very interesting post as it is written from a different perspective to what I normally read about. I especially resonated with the bit when you say that

“The money is in the relationship and the value you provide to your list.”

This is exactly what I have been taught by the mentors which I have at present – so gratifying to hear it being mentioned by someone else too.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

    Hey Wayne

I really like your post but I’m not agree with the myth that the money is on the list. Most of the money I have made was from my clients that I always continue adding value and selling them my products.By the way the article is amazing and really useful for people who believe in fake internet marketers such as most of the wso’s ,
