How To Market on Facebook

Marketing on Facebook can be effective for businesses both online and off. I have prepared this short video to show you how to market on Facebook.

1. If you have an offline business, you can choose to use Facebook to keep your customers in the know about your products, services and promotions whilst building a long term relationship with your client base. This is extremely powerful because Facebook handles technical elements like getting double opt in email subscribers with email marketing.

2. If you’re an online business, you may choose to do niche marketing which is building a list of friends into your personal account that have common interests with what you’re offering, build relationships and provide valuable content, then invite them to a group you administer is to do with what you’re offering, then sell your products or other peoples products from there. You can choose to set up a group so that you can have direct access to the person’s inbox or you may elect to set up a page so you can have direct access to the person’s news feed.

Below I have provided a couple of videos that show you some tactics and [slightly] technical elements to Facebook marketing to help you get the most from finding qualified prospects to market to.

I hope you found the video useful.

Making use of social networking sites for your online business is a good idea. Advertising, and spreading links through these sites can really improve your traffic and chances of selling since you can easily reach prospects.

      Hi Alex,

Yes, with the caveat of it being done properly. If it is not, it can have exactly the reverse effect. It can damage your reputation and have you labelled as a spammer that cannot contribute relevant content to the right market.

Always be looking to match the right content with the right audience. Quality of traffic is always better than quantity.

You said to type in internet marketing to find groups, but that doesn’t mean everyone should type in internet marketing, does it? What if my niche was fly fishing lures?

Also, can you tell me whether the fanpage or the group that I’ve created is more important as far as traffic or if there is a difference?

Thank you – Very nice post.

      Hi,

Yes, you type into the Facebook search bar your niche or even an authority figure in your niche.

They both have their advantages. A fan page gives you access to people’s news feeds. However for this to be effective, you fan page needs to get impressions on people’s news feeds by being on the favourable side of the Facebook algorithm. Facebook filters out content from people who you don’t interact with as much. Interactivity and engagement with other users is the key.

With Facebook groups, you can access people’s inboxes and email them directly. However, this depends upon people either being able to see their messages in Facebook through the rest of the garbage in there. Group messages are also set by default to go to people’s email inboxes, so people can read and click the links straight from their mailbox.

The only true answer is to do both and test to see which one works for you. I have a preference for pages since you can set up a mini website within pages especially considering the recent implementation of iFrames. This means that you can put 520px wide web pages within a special iFrame page. If you’re interested in this, check my Facebook fan page at http://www.facebook.com/TheProfitShare. In the news feed, you’ll notice me reference a video by Chris Farrell where he talks all about them. Watch that video. It may help you make the decision between whether groups or pages is the best way to go for you.

      Thanks for stopping by. ;)

Facebook is the top social networking site and no doubt facebook users are successfully marketing and advertising through this networking site. I’ve been using twitter and I’ve still not explored all the marketing tools with facebook so this is something I’ll be looking forward to experiment with very soon.
