How to Get DoFollow Backlinks Using CommentLuv

How to Get DoFollow Backlinks Using CommentLuv

In this post, I’m going to demonstrate how to get dofollow backlinks using CommentLuv.

I am essentially giving you a link building system that you can easily follow to give your blog extra traffic and build your pagerank over time.

As a blogger, you’ll understand the importance of actively link building around the content on your blog which you want to rank for and monetise. The challenge is finding links where:

  • You don’t have a large time investment to build them.
  • You don’t have masses of hoops to jump through to get them.
  • You have control over the content page and the link’s destination page.
  • You can target “dofollow” high pagerank sites to build your own pagerank.

Link building can be done by simply producing quality content and follow a few simple SEO principles which can also help you to attract some free Google traffic.

Step #1: Before You Begin… Download These Tools

If you’re using Firefox, you may wish to bookmark this page or subscribe to the RSS feed, so you can be sure you will not lose this page and can refer to it at a later date. You can easily favourite any blog posts with a good RSS Reader such as FeedDemon. I prefer the $20 pro version but you can get by quite nicely with the free version.

Subscribe to the RSS Feed

Step #2: Create New or Uncover Existing Content

You can either do this by:

  • Uncovering some of your previously written content within your blog and choosing the keywords that you have already targeted and ranked for.
  • Creating new content and doing thorough keyword research using a tool like Market Samurai to be certain you’re targeting the right keywords.

Make a note of the keywords that you’re choosing to target.

Step #3: Find Blogs That Use CommentLuv That Use Your Target Keywords

Do the following using Firefox with the awesome new add-ons that you’ve just installed.  ;-)

Use the following search string to search for blogs that use CommentLuv and contain your keywords in their page/post title.

intitle:make money online “commentluv”

Google Allintitle Search Screenshot

As you can see, the search string will find blogs using the CommentLuv system which contain the keywords “Make Money Online” within their page or post titles. Unless you’re Wikipedia, I don’t suggest you target those keywords.

This makes them extremely attractive blogs to get backlinks from since they’re already highly relevant. Any anchor text that you can achieve from these blogs will pass authority to your post.

Step #4: Confirm DoFollow or NoFollow Status

In the bottom right hand corner of your Firefox browser, you should see a symbol which I’ve displayed in the image below.

Quirk SearchStatus Menu

  • Click the search result of the page you want to visit.
  • Check to see if the blog post title within the CommentLuv link is in a highlighted in a grey box. If it is, this indicates that it is a dofollow link. Your objective is to find a link which does not have any highlighting. See the image as an example below.

Dofollow or Nofollow

Step #5: Find Posts Within a Site With a High Page Rank

Use the following search string to search for indexed content (pages/posts) and other taxonomies (categories/tags) within the “dofollow” site that you’ve discovered.

site:theprofitshare.com

SEO Quake Site Search

Click on the little down arrow in the Google part of the Quake toolbar. This will sort the results into pagerank order with the page with the highest pagerank at the top.

At this point, you’re looking for the highest ranking page that is not the home page to comment on. Most blogs will not allow comments on the home page.

Step #6: Visit the Page and Leave a Comment

To do this effectively, you should read and consider the contents of the post. Ask yourself the question:

What else might the readership need to know?

This question enables you to ask an insightful question which, when answered, would add value to the original post.

If you have specific knowledge on the subject, you may even choose to share that knowledge in that comment to add value to the post.

It is worth remembering that owners of blogs with high traffic and a good pagerank are likely to be more careful about the comments that they approve since they know that they’re more likely to receive spammy comments.

It is worth remembering at this point that I am not promoting comment spamming. I am simply saying to look for a win win situation where you can share wisdom, ask insightful questions, engage the blog owner’s readership and receive a quality backlink to your site in return.

Conclusion

I hope I’ve sold you on the importance of building links back to your site.

The beauty of this strategy is that it enables you to:

  • Build backlinks to your site.
  • Build authority with Google.
  • Build relationships with other Bloggers. Useful for JV’s later. ;-)
  • Get clickthroughs from qualified traffic.
  • build your list using Popup Domination or WP Subscribers.

Put this into practice. Even better, schedule it as a regular habit in your Internet Marketing plan.

As you can see KeywordLuv is an amazing plugin as well. People can use their real name, leave a comment and still get a nice do-follow link to their site.

    Really good stuff.

By the way, Wayne, why did you use any keyword on my site? ;)

      Hi Hendrik,

Thanks for the indirect invite to leave a comment on your site. I have visited your site during my research before and I guess that it how you came across my site. :-)

I did try to leave a comment on the following page but it told me that I needed to leave a star rating. The problem was that the stars were not on the screen in the comments area to click on and select, so I couldn’t leave the comment.

When you get this sorted, please let me know here and I’ll pop across and leave my comment. :-)

Funny i had commentluv on my blog but haven’t considered leveraging on it. I do a lot of blog reading and commenting but don’t really bother if they are CL enabled let alone do follow. Guess I’ll start giving more preference to com-lovers blogs. Thanks for the tips. i found you from google

Yes, please do comment on other blogs. This is a method where it is possible for you to target high quality backlinks to your site.

Just follow the procedure outlined above.

  3. Hank Osborne May 31, 2011 at 22:32 #

    Wayne,

I have been blogging for over six years and I am a big fan of Quirk SearchStatus. I have been using it for years to help me get a rough idea of how popular a site is. Having DoFollow verses not has never really factored into my choice to comment or not. If folks like what I say then there is a chance they will clink the link associated with my name on the comment. Hence I get traffic. Who knows what rates better in the Google secret sauce, traffic or link love?

All that said, I am curious. Why CommentLuv? Your idea of looking for DoFollow links work on any blog comment system that a person my be interested?
Hank Osborne invites you to read Apple MacBook Pro Gray Screen of DeathMy Profile

    • Wayne Lambert May 31, 2011 at 22:51 #

      Hi Hank,

Yeah, it’s a great Firefox plugin, isn’t it?

You’re quite right, it is still good to leave comments on nofollow blogs and I often do.

Although only Google themselves know, there is plenty of research been done to determine that the links that pass the higher credence to Google are dofollow links which help to pass pagerank from the source site to the destination site.

That said, pagerank certainly isn’t everything as there are plenty of PR1 sites getting lots of traffic. Look at this site as an example. :-)

I certainly do not exclusively go for dofollow blogs with a high PR.

It works best with CommentLuv, especially now the readers have a choice of which post they want to invite the blogger’s readership to read.

      Thanks for commenting,

      Wayne

      Hi Nina,

I use both Chrome and Firefox. I favour Chrome for raw browsing speed – it’s easily the quickest and least buggy.

Firefox is a better utility browser through because of the SEO and developer adds on which help you identify opportunities in your research.

      Firefox = Research browser
      Chrome = Regular browser

For standard browsing, Chrome is by far the best as it is way quicker than the other browsers.

However, Firefox is great for add-ons. You might also find an SEO Quake extension within the Extensions section on Google Chrome as well. ;-)

      Hi Richard,

      Welcome to my blog. :)

It can do, or you can set it to “dofollow” after the commenter leaves so many comments on your site.

For example, I have set my site up so that when the user leaves 3 approved comments, the links become dofollow by default.

This incentivises commenting and stops people from leaving pointless “nice post” comments.

You can go and manually search for commentluv enabled do-follow sites, but it will be very time consuming. I have tried commenting on keywordluv and commentluv sites but i don’t get the anchor text only “image”. example:
i left my comment on this site: basicblogtips.com/blog-comments.html scroll down to 21 oct 2011.You will see my name in name field and at the end you will see my commentluv keyword. Why do i still receive “image” instead of the keyword as anchor text?Does this mean that this is for all commentluv blogs?

For one year, I have been building links, by commenting on high PR WordPress and Blogspot blogs. Although most of these blogs can quite make my ranking a little bit higher, I must say that the entire process of waiting for these comments to be approved can take some time – not to mention the number of spammers making moderators really pissed off about comments while in fact, there are some people who really want to make legit forms of backlinks, and create a nice and ongoing conversation with the blog poster. I am trying these new techniques (just imagine, I have not been using any tools before) and these tools and techniques you’ve provided will surely help a lot.

The only downside I can find is that it is impossible to track where you left a comment and who reacted to it. Disqus has that option, but I like comluv more. If only they would release something to easilly follow your comments.

  142. Robert July 18, 2012 at 07:38 #

I think DoFollow back links are more important than the NoFollow back links when we considering it in terms of search engine ranking. NoFollow links help you to get only direct traffic. It is right that your site must have NoFollow back links with DoFollow so that search engine can not consider your DoFollow back link as spam.
Best way to generate backlink is from DoFollow blog commenting and Submitting post or article at Forums and free articles submission sites.

Dofollow and Nofollow are both useful to your blogs but dofollow backlinks is better than nofollow. Dofollow can make your site to rank high in Google because it is Dofollow.

CommentLuv is a great tool that allow bloggers to help each other and interact more. As long as commentors are responsible enough to leave quality comments, it should be a win-win situation for both parties.

I use SEO Quake too and I have always maximized the site analysis that it does. Amazing plugin.

It seems that do-follow blogs are becoming harder to find. In fact, I have not seen one in quite a while. The next best link building strategy for me is to find high quality and contextually relevant guest posts on sites. It takes a little (okay a lot more work), but the link juice is also substantially better than comments.
