Entrepreneur Heroes Trading Cards

Just yesterday, I received a gift from Evan Carmichael, whom after research, I now understand to be a successful online entrepreneur and businessman from Toronto in Ontario, Canada.

The gift was the Richard Branson card from the Entrepreneur Heroes Trading Cards series which is like a series of cards which people can trade with one another which includes a picture of the entrepreneur on one side and some inspirational snippets and reasons why a top blogger likes the entrepreneur listed. I’m sure you remember the principle of trading cards when you traded cards of your favourite sports team in the school playground.

The trading cards are the brainchild of Evan Carmichael who thought of the idea to manufacture and sell the cards and allow all the proceeds to go to Kiva, which is a an organisation that helps entrepreneurs in developing countries raise capital through micro-loans to fund their entrepreneurial endeavours. I have long favoured schemes like this than other schemes where countries with greater wealth simply give money to feed those in less developed countries. The ethos here is that we can help entrepreneurs run activities that build communities and allow the country to stand on their own two feet becoming self sufficient.

The tweet from my @FastSelfHelp account which triggered Evan Carmichael to send me the card which was very nicely encased in a plastic casing was this:

Evan then attached a note inside the padded jiffy bag from Canada saying, “Wayne, I saw your tweet and thought you would enjoy this – keep up the great work!” @EvanCarmichael

I think that this is a cracking idea to help the world to become a better place and a great way to spread the word about such an amazing scheme. Look at the way I have reciprocated the kindness by posting onto my blog and Social Media accounts about this.

If you’re anything like me, you will have read countless books about entrepreneurs who have made their vision a success and brought real lasting value to the world in doing so. These characters are inspiring for so many more entrepreneuers out there who are also bringing value to the world, even if their companies are not the next Microsoft, Google, Apple or Facebook.

Entrepreneurs such as Bill Gates, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, Larry Page and Mark Zuckerberg have changed the landscape of the world forever through their entrepreneurial ventures. Getting involved in buying some of these cards can help the world change forever in developing countries by allowing entrepreneurs to bring those countries into a state of self-sufficiency so they can move forward and develop with pride and without the feeling that they are becoming a burden on developed countries.
